Self-Care Sunday

I have a love/hate relationship with Sundays. They’re usually a day where I can relax and get things done that have been harassing my to-do lists for months. But, they’re also the day before it’s back to the grind of working, potential stress and managing mental health.

Here’s what I do to allow myself to truly relax, and be productive at the same time.

  • Yoga: Do a practice that you’ve been wanting to try but haven’t had the time to do. I try to do a longer one, just because during the week I know my energy levels will be lower. Today I did Total Body Yoga- Deep Stretch. I highly recommend it for anyone who carries stress in their hips.
  • Laundry: I mean who likes to do laundry period let alone when you get home for work. I try to do at least a load on Sundays to make sure I have clothes to wear to work.
  • “Meal Prep”: So, I don’t do meal prepping, but I do look in my fridge and cupboards to make sure there’s food I can easily bring to work that will keep me energized. My favourite current quick snacks/meals are: Almonds/Walnuts, Apples, Avocados on bagels with butter, Made Good Granola Bars and leftovers of any sort.
  • Reflection: I try to reflect on how I’ve been feeling physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I try to make tiny plans of action that can be easily implemented during the work week. Example: I’ve been feeling physically tense so I am going to do 10 minutes of stretching everyday and drink calm tea at work.

Doing these things allows me to relax while being productive and connecting with myself. I hope this week is good to you all.
